Really started to put the nose to the grindstone whilst keeping my ear to the ground these past few weeks…time is absolutely flying by and I’m starting to think about what the future holds for little old me…
After being told for four years that web/graphic design jobs were as scarce as hens teeth, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the amount of jobs I’ve seen advertised and more importantly, jobs I’d deem myself eligible for…now its just all about getting my foot in the door for an interview so I can prove how fantastic I am and what an asset I would be to a company!!

This Saturday 24/03/07 marks the worlds first Shutdown Day where computer users are asked to leave their computers off all day and do something else.
As there hasn’t been a day gone by in well over two years when I haven’t turned on a computer, I find it a very interesting concept but I’m afraid I’ll be logging onĀ if only to check if the Internet is any faster than usual!

Got this little beaut yesterday and I must say, I’m thoroughly impressed…slim, feels nice in the hand, easy to text on and stuffed with features including a PDF, PowerPoint & word reader…its also has GPS and WI-FI!!!
On the downside, it can be quite slow and the screen almost flickers at times like when reading a message when its first received. This was a similar problem with the N73, a phone I trailed for a couple of days, then sent back.
I think I’m most impressed with Wi-fi, which means I can connect to unsecured wireless networks anywhere and browse the net anywhere, free of charge! The E65 also has a nifty little web browser that allows you preview the whole page when moving a cursor around the screen. It also allows you to choose which page to go back to when the ‘back’ button is pressed. Its hard to explain with words but after a quick play, it all becomes clear!
It has been said that 2007 will be the year of the mobile Internet revolution and if these capabilities start rolling out on all mobiles in the near future, I can foresee Internet on the move being huge!
Time to start attaching the mobile stylesheets…

According to the BBC, a ruling by the Copyright Royalty Board could spell the end of internet radio in its current form as broadcasters will be forced to pay almost double what they currently pay per track by 2010. Insiders say the ruling was influenced heavily by the record companies.
As a regular listener to 1.fm this is not good news. Once again, the corporate bigwigs have decided they aren’t getting enough in their salaries and have put their considerable weight behind a ruling body to do something about it. Don’t they realise the exposure their music gets by being played on the these online radio stations?
I can see online radio dying a death, just like Napster…

According to this report, we will be able to smell websites by 2017 via a fragrance box sitting next to our computer! The report, produced by the S.Korean government, also predicted that by 2012, mobile phone batteries will last 2 months between charges…now that, is music to my ears!
As regards the smelly vision, considering the amount of unsavoury sites on the internet, I think you can keep it!

I got my first play with Vista last week as I set up a mates new computer. I was not impressed. Within less than a minute, a program had stopped responding and had to be manually ended. I’ve no idea what it was and what stopped working but it wasn’t a good start. Upon further exploration I was grated to discover that I had to ‘allow’ everything. Extra security feature, fair enough, but the whole reason I use an operating system and not a command prompt is so that I don’t have to worry about such things, good old XP managed to take care of most of these issues all by itself. My friend later told me that it was spitting out his Office 2003 disk and refusing to install it, as word is his most used application, he’s not a happy camper.
And apparently he’s not alone according to this report from the BBC Vista is causing all sorts of software problems, and I’ve also heard of problems with corrupting iPods and broadband issues when using Vista.
As regarding look and feel, its looks very Fisher Price-esque to me, big and cartoony but maybe that will grow on me…But that won’t be for a while as I think I’ll be sticking with XP for the foreseeable future…
